This program will help with cultural adjustments, new comers often experience stress, anxiety, depression while adapting to new environment, new culture and language., trauma and loss, many new comers have experienced persecution and loss in their home countries or during migration journey, providing mental support is essential for healing and recovery, social isolation as many immigrants experience loneliness especially if they lack social support in their new environment, access to services, family dynamics, employment and financial stress, barriers to care as many immigrants face barriers to accessing mental health care due to inability to get health insurance.
This program will educate immigrants about the importance of preventive care such as regular check-ups, vaccinations, screenings for common health conditions, engaging African immigrant communities through tailored health education programs and outreach events to raise awareness and promote health behaviors, assisting immigrants in finding heath care providers who are culturally competent and sensitive to their needs, understanding the healthcare systems including primary care providers, specialists, hospitals and insurance options.
